People who are deaf or hard of hearing frequently encounter special obstacles and opportunities while trying to get help for overcoming trauma and healing. According to research, this demographic is almost twice as likely as hearing populations to report having experienced trauma and to meet the criteria for PTSD. Along with greater reported rates of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and maltreatment of children by adults. In this tape, it will be discussed how to use the Somatic Experiencing framework and tools to help Deaf and hard of hearing people and communities receive better treatment and achieve better results. A focus will be placed on approaches to promote Deaf and hard of hearing SE students and practitioners’ access to Somatic Experiencing training as well as effective SE adaptation for Deaf and hard of hearing clients.
