the Yoshinkan fundamentals of aikido. Aikido Yoshinkan Gozo Shioda, the school’s founder, and top masters gave demonstrations. On May 24, 1932, Gozo Sensei Shioda enrolled in the Kobukan Dojo of O-Sensei and remained there as a resident student until 1941.
He started instructing Aikido in 1952 when the martial arts embargo imposed by the MacArthur administration was repealed.
Shioda-sensei won the Grand Prix as the top competitor at the first Aikido demonstration after the war in 1954 in front of more than 15,000 people.
Gozo Shioda received the 9th Dan from O-Sensei in 1961, signifying his total mastery of aikido, and the 10th Dan and the title Meijin or Grand Master from the International Federation of Martial Arts in 1984.
Later, he was acknowledged as the founder of all martial arts, given the title “Mu-Dan” (outside of Denmark), and designated a Japanese Cultural Property.
