I made the decision to improve my public speaking after reading some time ago that public speaking was the summit of successful communication. It was first unsightly. In front of a tiny audience, I recall holding on for dear life as I nearly passed out while giving a speech at a luncheon for some Rotary Club members. For me, it was just dreadful! But I persisted, and finally I developed into a renowned keynote speaker who was paid to address various worldwide audiences.

Even while there are some pretty basic things that may take an ordinary speech and make it fantastic, I discovered that the key to making a great speech had more to do with how I felt about myself and my audience than any actual secrets. You care more that the same qualities that make a great public speech also make sharing a tale to friends interesting rather than tedious, or that having an intimate private discussion with someone is more meaningful and real than it could ever be without them.

Although I have actually trained literally hundreds and hundreds of individuals to improve their communication skills, including professional speakers, sales professionals, CEOs, and many, many more, the original concept for this unique curriculum just recently occurred to me.

I recently attended a graduation ceremony where I witnessed people who you may have believed might be decent or exceptional speakers completely fail when it was their turn at the stage. When they took the stage in front of a student and parent audience that were eager and motivated to be inspired, they failed to impress and left their audience bored and yearning for more.

The worst thing is that what they really said was just acceptable; in fact, in one instance, the speaker had a fantastic narrative to tell and did a good job of doing it. Therefore, it wasn’t their material that was lacking; rather, it was something more basic, such as how they perceived themselves as a speaker and their audience, as well as what they hoped to achieve in the little time they had available. You could see they were hesitant and nervous as they spoke, even though they might have been inspirational and motivational with such little work.

I made the decision right then and then that if they would only let me help them, these guys could develop into fantastic speakers.

I thus made the decision to carry it out, and I started building the software you are currently reading that day.

I’m now committed to assisting you in being the best communicator and speaker you are capable of becoming.
