At his Holistic Health Center in Virginia, Dr. Jeffrey Thompson started testing the effects of sound on the body and brain in 1981. In his research, he explored the use of precise sound frequencies for acupuncture meridians balancing, organ stimulation and normalization, and chiropractic spinal and cranial adjustments. He made ground-breaking discoveries on how sound frequency patterns used in musical soundtracks may entrain brainwaves and produce a variety of positive health effects through his clinical studies with thousands of patients and volunteers.

At a graduate program and research facility in Encinitas, California, Dr. Thompson conducted his scientific clinical research for many years. He was a member of the faculty and instructed classes in behavioral psychoacoustics and clinical neuroacoustic treatment, which are recognized by the state of California as being essential to the master’s and PhD programs in clinical psychotherapy and human science. Dr. Thompson actively imparts knowledge through sponsored lectures, workshops, and certification programs at several universities.

In Encinitas, California, Dr. Thompson founded the Center for Neuroacoustic Research in 1988. Dr. Thompson was tasked in 1989 by NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory with investigating a number of powerful recordings that the Voyager I and II spacecraft had received from Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Dr. Thompson has been asked to investigate the potential significance and uses of these NASA space sound recordings.

Dr. Thompson is well regarded as an authority on the use of acoustic pacing frequencies in musical soundtracks. He has developed a technique for employing modulated sound-pulses to change states of consciousness, leading to the best possible mind-body healing. He is a master musician and composer in his own right. Dr. Thompson’s approach to healing with sound was hailed as one of the best alternative healing treatments in the US in the 1990s. The Center for the Study of Complementary and Alternative Therapies provided funding for his investigation (CSCAT).

Within a month of its release, Dr. Thompson’s debut album, Isle of Skye, was distributed by significant music companies in the US. The American Hypnotherapy Association accepted it for hypnotherapy usage within the first six months. Dr. Thompson has collaborated with Deepak Chopra, and he and Louise Hay have produced several self-improvement recordings. Dr. Thompson has also developed audio programs for conferences featuring Susan Jeffers, Bru Joy, Bernie Siegel, and Barbara Marx Hubbard.

The work of Dr. Thompson has been included into studies at the Royal Ottawa Sleep Research Center in Canada and the NeuroPsychiatric Center at UCLA. His CD-based audio programs are used in several cancer departments and clinics, as well as with patients before to and following surgery. His patented Vibro-Acoustic Sound Chair and Sound Table are utilized in private fitness studios, residences, wellness spas, professional and business offices, and medical and mental health facilities.
