The video sessions provide you the opportunity to experience the work firsthand while rehearsing vocal and physical exercises in studio sessions with Professor Long, making them far more beneficial than any book could ever be.
First, you’ll discover that the explicit pursuit of your goal—or, in acting, the character’s goal—which materializes moment by moment through precise actions, is what propels a good performance.
Study acting teacher Uta Hagen’s “Nine Questions,” which sum up a dramatic character’s surroundings, motives, and goals, and observe how these elements influence their conduct onstage, using characters from Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire.
To give your performance or presentation the vital clarity and focus it needs, learn how to precisely apply the ideas of purpose and aims to both theatrical scripts and public speaking.
You’ll then try to achieve physical freedom and ease onstage, two qualities that are essential for carrying oneself in public.
Practice acting-style movement drills by drawing on the insights of movement pioneers F. Mathias Alexander, Moshe Feldenkrais, and Rudolph Laban. You may use them to release unneeded physical tension, align your body naturally, and move with balance, spontaneity, and freedom.
