Description:
Give your clients the ability to live in the present and leave pain and tension in the past!
Jon Kabat Zinn is your “master” when you study under him.
What aspect of therapy most interests you? Start exploring, rediscovering, and changing lives right away!
I recall seeing client after client while working as a psychotherapist at a nonprofit HMO. They were stressed-out, prone to panic attacks, or just unable to handle stress. They visited doctors, but it didn’t help much. Instead of treating each person as an individual and highlighting what was great, I was of little use since I was mired in a routine that saw me treating symptoms and concentrating on what was wrong.
In a desperate attempt to find a better solution for both myself and my customers, I strolled into a lunchtime meditation session with the most beautiful, vibrant, and self-assured teacher. After only one session, I felt more energized, more able to handle things, and more focused on my clients.
The inventor of mindfulness-based stress reduction, Jon Kabat-Zinn, was the engaging and kind instructor.
That was thirty years ago, and with the assistance of Jon Kabat-Zinn, I have since been able to change my life and my practice by using the exact same ideas that I saw emerge from that yoga session back in Worcester, Massachusetts. Along with Jon, I launched my own business, became an instructor, and started witnessing amazing treatment results with my clients. I was feeling upbeat, self-assured, and enthusiastic about my therapeutic practice.
Then, in 1995, I received a cancer diagnosis. I experimented with mindfulness-based stress reduction and learned firsthand how to cope with the discomfort and stress of chemotherapy and everything else associated with a stem cell transplant.
At the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Emory University, and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, a mindfulness-based intervention for bone marrow transplants was developed as a result of my personal and clinical experience with this evidence-based methodology.
My life and the lives of many of my clients have been improved through mindfulness-based stress reduction. I wish to impart these techniques to you. The psychological and physical suffering in your clients’ life will be transformed by this practice.
