Let’s quickly clarify this…

I wasn’t destroying it.

I didn’t watch Techcrunch.
I didn’t read Hacker News.
The Next Big ThingTM wasn’t me.
At a $10MM pre-money value, I decided against seeking a second round of venture capital.

I had no plans to leave…

I was one of many anonymous, dishonorable startup founders laboring away on his laptop with little to show for it in terms of enthusiasm or progress.

I certainly wasn’t in Silicon Valley, hanging out with the cool kids.

Even though I was working on a (very) amazing project, it wasn’t expanding very quickly.

Getting clients was challenging.

Of course, I was always coming up with justifications. The end result wasn’t quite complete (spoiler alert: it never is). If I were to implement feature X, growth would occur the next month.

Growth didn’t seem to be “my thing,” in my opinion. I detested sales and marketing. Selling is a job that other people have. All I wanted to do was create this awesome thing.

Here is a list of the quick explanations I used:

Selling was always handled by my co-founder. Never me, as I was terrible at selling.
I had no formal training in marketing or anything of the kind. I must therefore be a poor marketer.
I could not have possibly known how to code.
I was a complete failure in sales.
Additionally, I didn’t really have any relationships.

I will now tell you one thing.

These justifications won’t get you there. Someone who is a killer at generating growth will just wipe you away.
I managed to somehow transform that mountain of justifications into a remarkable reversal, which still astounds me as I write about it now.

I made the decision that 2016 would be the year I learned growth marketing.

Soon after, I would create these rudimentary mechanisms for establishing and expanding start-up enterprises.

It didn’t work out well. Just a stroke of luck.

Here are some of the results I observed to give you an idea:

A hastily put up early proof-of-concept for one of my companies, Leansites, quickly brought in roughly 1.500 signups.
On SumoMe, which is run by Noah Kagan, we had a Growthcasts article on how to “growth hack Reddit.”
Eddy, a coworker of mine, generated a whopping 50k visits in a matter of days for our website (which we then failed to convert, sorry!)

Unexpectedly, ideas I had read about on Growthhackers.com began to truly occur to me. Haha!

To be honest with you…

I distinctly recall being at a cafe and exchanging stories with three other businesspeople. We developed a concept for how more people may gain from this based on that dialogue.

We swiftly put out a landing page and sent it to Betalist. Growthcasts v0.1 ended there.

What’s this?

1.300 individuals registered.

the majority within hours of their publication…

I’ll let you in on a little secret: the list now has over 10.000 names on it. All because they are so desperate to learn the systems.

The good news is that I will instruct you in it.

You should be aware nevertheless that I’m not exactly a natural instructor. I’m simply your average guy.

I’m not the expert with years of expertise you may have been searching for.

Actually, the following is everything I DO NOT HAVE:

I don’t have more than ten years of marketing experience.

I don’t reside in Silicon Valley, London, or Amsterdam, and I’ve never even been to the United States of America. I lacked your contacts, which you may have.
I did not complete university.
Prior to relocating to the tropical island of Bali, I resided in a town of 30.000 people in the Netherlands, where the majority of residents pursue agricultural studies.
I’m writing this at the age of 25.
I don’t belong to any other “secret clubs” or anything of the kind.

The point is that I probably wasn’t more intelligent, brighter, wealthy, or well-connected than you.

Why is that relevant?

Considering that, in my opinion, it puts the “magic” of growth hacking in proper perspective. There is a lot of smoke surrounding it, and each new guru that appears only adds to the cloud.

The issue is… Growth is not that difficult to understand. Everything is really methodical. If a fool like me can accomplish it, perhaps more people need to at least attempt it.

Regarding those systems… I genuinely believed I had struck it fortunate.

Without the help of my friend Mark, I would have thought it was pure luck.

Without Dennis, one of my first clients, I would not have been able to achieve a 100% month-over-month growth rate and avoid certain failure.

Or for the other teams I worked with, where all the systems were simply copied and pasted for them to install.

However, the reality is that everything is going great. I’ll show it how I accomplished it, too.

The remainder of this page will provide all the information you want on my system, which helped me achieve enormous success. I will do this in excruciating detail.
