A retired mixed martial artist and 10 times world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Roger Gracie Gomes was born on September 26, 1981. He is a Gracie family member and the son of Mauricio Motta Gomes and Reila Gracie, Carlos Gracie’s daughter. While training in New York in 2003, at the request of Carlos Gracie, Jr., Roger received his black belt from his cousin Renzo Gracie. He has a fourth degree black belt at the moment. The Roger Gracie Academy, based in Hammersmith, London, England, was founded by Roger Gracie, who also serves as its principal instructor.
