FIRST TRAP: The Pit of Passivity

Someone experiences oneself as passive and, thus, powerless when they feel that they “can’t” accomplish something.

They think, “I can’t do it, and even if I knew what to do, I still wouldn’t be able to accomplish it,” or something similar.

It’s a typical limiting pattern, and people who have it often turn to others for assistance (Eg. to experts).

The person takes copious notes while the expert delivers their expertise to the best of their abilities.

However, because they believe the power is outside of them (in the “expert”), they frequently fail to put what they are learning into practice.

They secretly believe, “I can’t do it; it works for the Expert, but there’s something different about them.”

The deeds are kept in their journal and hardly ever come to light.

Sincerely, how often have you read a book, listened to an audio program, or attended an event where you heard a lot of great ideas but didn’t follow through on them?

If you’re anything like me, you’ve more than likely experienced “the pit of inactivity.” It’s not your fault, either!

When you felt like you were in the “I can’t” area, it was inevitable.

Fortunately, there is a way out of this problem that is (arguably) paradoxical. Yet first…

The illusion of the expert is trap number two.

Usually, “the expert” is someone who has figured out how to do something in a way that suits them.

They do so in good conscience because they “know” that if you act in the same way they did, you would experience the same outcomes. However, they are lacking a vital component.

The expert developed a strategy that works with THEIR particular skills, THEIR personality, THEIR values, and THEIR way of life. However, there is one issue.

You aren’t THEM! Their method MAY NOT be a suitable fit for your special skills, personality, or way of life.

How frequently have you seen someone explain a “guaranteed, step-by-step approach” before failing to follow it?

Again, you’ve probably done it more than once if you’re anything like me.

Once more, you are not to blame. You were duped by the expert’s false appearance.

Only if you can combine someone else’s process utilizing YOUR OWN strength & method will it work for you.

However, none of them were discussing what was most crucial.
