Description
The Heller Institute’s founder and director, Steven Heller, Ph.D., has been practicing clinical hypnosis since 1969. He was in high demand as a presenter and teacher for both his own technique, Unconscious Restructuring®, and the Ericksonian method. One of the pioneers of “Ericksonian hypnosis” was Dr. Heller, who introduced it through his Clinical Hypnosis: Innovative Techniques® lecture program. Throughout the country, this show was broadcast for many years. As a result, he earned the moniker “The Wizard” and was referred to as the “trainer of the trainers.”
In addition to running a private practice, Dr. Heller ran internal training sessions for hospital employees, academic institutions, and associations for the medical, dental, and psychological professions. He appeared as a guest on a number of radio and television shows. For surgical operations where general anesthesia could not be administered, Dr. Heller employed his techniques. One striking instance was performing a mastectomy while under the exclusive anaesthetic of Unconscious Restructuring®. The patient didn’t have any discomfort during the treatment, and she didn’t need any postoperative medicine either. Additionally, she was released 36 hours after surgery.
Dr. Heller earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from California Western University, with hypnosis being his particular field of study. He passed away in 1997 after being born in Los Angeles in 1939. We really miss him.
