Alex Noriega

I’m a professional nature photographer and photography educator, and I travel full-time around the United States.

I began my photography journey over a decade ago, while living in the Midwest and working in Information Technology. I purchased a camera to take better photos of the spare computer parts I was selling online, and quickly became enthralled by the process of photography. I pursued a myriad of subjects, ranging from architecture to portraiture – until a couple of friends and I took a road trip out to the Pacific Coast. It was then that I saw the mountains and deserts of the West firsthand. I had previously known these places only through various forms of media, having grown up surrounded by flat farmlands.

Experiencing these rugged landscapes made me realize just how much nature moves and inspires me. I soon moved to the West Coast and decided to focus exclusively on nature photography. I lived in the Pacific Northwest for several years, while also making numerous extended trips to photograph the Southwestern deserts. It was in the Northwest that I met my girlfriend Taylor, and we soon traded our urban lives for full-time nomadic adventuring. We now live in a travel trailer, mostly in and around National Parks, surrounded by nature.

I seek to convey a sense of mystery with my photographs; I want to spark the viewer’s imagination. Though I initially became known for grand landscapes, I now prefer to focus on more subtle, intimate scenes. I have a great appreciation for the timeless compositions of the masters of film. I aim to blend the influence of this classic style with contemporary techniques in my work.
