Angus Clark – Hard Rock Survival Guide – Rhythm
**More information:
Description
The rhythmic edition of Angus Clark’s Hard Rock Survival Guide. It’s been stated before, and we’ll say it once more: When you have excellent rhythm skills, you always get the job. Today’s players are a dime a dozen, and the majority of them skipped all of their rhythm lessons to hone their lead skills. Your gain is their loss. Musicians, band leaders, jammers, singer-songwriters, and the like will always choose a reliable rhythm player above a talented lead musician. So, yes, rhythm is everything. This Survival Guide curriculum was divided into two primary portions by Angus. Angus will walk you through 22 fundamental ideas and methods in the first half. You’ll work your way through 17 rhythm studies that Angus created for the second half, which covers a wide range of moods and grooves.
Tunings, Big Chords, Rhythmic Subdivisions, Choking the… are just a few of the 22 fundamental ideas and methods. Power chords, Power Chords in Rhythm, Syncopated Rhythms, Triplet Rhythms and Shuffles, Power Chords in Drop D, Stylistic Touches, The “Other” Power Chord, Triads, Sixths and Thirds, Open String Pedals, Pedals in Drop D, Additional Chord Vocabulary, Accompaniment Figures, Other Time Signatures, Acoustic Applications, and Hard Rock Secrets are covered in this book
All of the ideas and methods are illustrated over the course of 17 rhythm studies, which make use of authentic rhythm tracks in a range of keys, feelings, and tempos: Punk Pop Chords, Classic Hard Rock, Kurt’s Grunge, Nu Metal Ostinato, Since You’ve Been Rockin’, Alice’s Grunge, Downstroke Exercise Shuffles Are Hot, Drop D Bullet, Ben’s Staccato, Ben’s Overdub, Shore Leave Shuffle, Math Rock Shuffle One, Math Rock Shuffle Two, Crazy Triads, and Mean Combo are some examples of musical arrangements.
Following a demonstration of the rhythmic components, Angus deconstructs them measure-by-measure and technique-by-technique. In order to learn the parts as they are provided, you will play along with Angus. After that, you will use the rhythm recordings to create your own rhythm sections. Everything has been categorized and noted for your convenience.
Whatever style of rock you play—classic, grunge, metal, alternative, indy, grind core, stoner, psychedelic, blues-rock, power pop, folk rock, and so on—you’ll be able to glean enough knowledge and skills from the Hard Rock Rhythm Survival Guide to whip your rhythm skills into seriously jaw-dropping shape.
