The University of Kansas School of Business’s Applied Portfolio Management program is run by Catherine Shenoy, PhD, MBA. She has served as a Foreign Service Officer for the US State Department in Tunis, Tunisia, and Washington, DC. She has been a finance, accounting, and statistics professor at the University of Kansas since 1993. The president and chief investment officer of Jayhawk Capital Management is Kent C. McCarthy, MBA. He left Goldman Sachs in 1994, moved back to Kansas, and started the Applied Portfolio Management course. Prior to founding Jayhawk Capital Management, which oversees hedge funds and private equity funds largely targeted at the Chinese equities markets in 1995, McCarthy taught the course full-time. He continues to teach the APM course as an executive lecturer.
