Combat Sambo – Master Tony Lopez – Street Fighting
Tony Lopez was born in 1955, and at the age of 5, he started training in Judo and Spanish Folk Wrestling in Spain. After arriving in America at the age of 12, he spent seven years studying American Folk Wrestling. While attending college, he trained in boxing, kickboxing, and tae kwon do from the age of 19 to 22. He trained in the martial art of Hapkido while serving in the U.S. Army from 1979 to about 1985 as an instructor of military hand-to-hand fighting. While still competing in wrestling and boxing matches, he began learning Russian Sambo, Okinawan Karate, and Thai Boxing in 1985. He started developing his own brand of Kempo-Jujitsu about 1997, and today he teaches both Combat Sambo and Kempo-Jujitsu.
Since 1986, Master Lopez has coached wrestlers. His pupils will be enshrined this spring into the Martial Arts Masters, Pioneers, and Legions Hall of Fame after winning multiple wrestling, Karate, and Submission Wrestling championships. Along with Panther Productions, Master Lopez has produced 11 Combat Sambo videos that have won awards.
