For the shinkarate (‘new’ karate) organization, a kickboxing lesson.
introductory education in technique Nothing special.
1 hour and 26 minutes total. Mostly technique and padwork. Approximately ten minutes of previous tournament highlights follow.
This DVD is a complement to Kubosaka Sakon’s book. He competed in K-1 and K-1 MAX (he only had a 1-2 record in K-1 and K-1 MAX), was a champion in shinkarate, All-Japan kickboxing, and the WPKC World Muay Thai super middleweight division in the early 2000s.
He currently owns his own kickboxing and karate gym and serves as the chief teacher for shinkarate.

Kamimura Eiichi, a former kyokushin karate competitor who subsequently switched to kickboxing in the 1970s, invented Shinkarate. It employs the Glove karate regulations, which are essentially the kyokushin karate “knockdown” rules with the addition of boxing gloves and the authorization of headpunches. However, scoring differs from traditional kickboxing. Shinkarate is both an official type of karate and a sport organization that allows any dojo or gym to compete in competitions even if they just practice kickboxing or thai boxing instead of karate (non-karate fighters are easily recognized in tournament as they wear a white belt to their karate Gi)

One of the most well-liked and expanding amateur kickboxing gyms in Japan is shinkarate. Shinkarate competitions are only open to amateurs. Kickboxing competitions are attended by fighters looking to make it big.
Nearly every Japanese fighter in K-1 for a period had a shinkarate background.
Yuya Yamamoto, who competes in KRUSH, is one of the most well-known kickboxers with a shinkarate background right now.

Depending on whether you are an adult, a beginner, or a juvenile, shinkarate competitions are designated as G-2, G-3, and G-4 (formerly known as K-2, K-3, and K-4) levels. How much protective padding you wear makes a difference.
