Salepage: Kris Wilder – Sanchin Kata Traditional Training Methods for Karate Power
The foundational kata of Goju Ryu Karate are covered in the instructional DVD Sanchin Kata: Traditional Training for Karate Power by Kris Wilder. This is the first video I review here from the publisher, YMAA. I must admit that the DVD is presented well and has an excellent level of production quality:
A portion of the video is exteriorly filmed in what appears to be a Japanese garden. a lovely touch
The inside video was shot in a setting that resembled a conventional Karate dojo. For an educational film, this isn’t completely required, but it’s pleasant to see.
The audio and visual quality is excellent. Amazing thing.
You also receive samples from other videos they sell in addition to the primary material.
Overall, you get a lot of value for your money with it. The evaluation will now begin.
You are given a brief explanation of Sanchin kata and a thorough demonstration of the form initially. The form’s history is then briefly discussed, and Kris also expresses his opinions on it. This gives you the background knowledge you need to comprehend the video’s major message, which is what follows.
The teaching material opens with a step-by-step explanation of how to construct the ideal physical structure for this kata. Kris is assisted by a partner who positions each body component in the proper alignment before demonstrating how to execute it. More significantly, he offers advice on what to stay away from. He discusses
Feet\sKnees\sThighs
Hips
Spinus sacrum Solar plexus
Shoulders\sArms
Head\sNeck
Kris provides thorough, in-depth instructions for each body component so you can complete the form correctly. He points out items with a stick and lays strips on the ground so you can see the correct angles and alignment. By taking this methodical technique, you may essentially construct Sanchin’s structure from the bottom up to the top.
The portions that follow include advice on proper breathing techniques for Sanchin, punching technique, and most crucially, body audit technique. Many people don’t get the teacher’s decision to hit his kid during a Sanchin performance. Kris provides explicit instructions on how to do this and why you should.
