a two-part instructional video, 6-5 kyu and 4-3 kyu. The UK Aikido Federation’s technical director, Minoru Kanetsuka (7th dan Aikido Aikikai), demonstrates the move. In 1957, while a student at Takusoku University (Tokyo), he started learning Yoshinkan-style aikido under the instruction of Fujita-sensei and Shioda-sensei. After completing his study, he embarked on a voyage to the east to spread Aikido among the nations there. He traveled to Nepal, where he spent eight years instructing at the police school and training the royal family’s bodyguards.
Kanetsuka-sensei traveled to England in 1972 at the request of Kazuo Chiba, who at the time served as the Technical Director of the Aikikai of Great Britain. Kanetsuka-sensei started his own dojo, called “Ryushinkan,” a few years later.
Kanetsuka-sensei took over in this position after Chiba-sensei returned to Japan in 1977.
Additionally, he serves as the Aikido Hombu Dojo’s official representative in England.

While stitching technique for sutures is an art learned through practice, the knowledge of what happens at the cellular and molecular level in the tissues being stitched arises through science.
