Foreign exchange, or forex, is the conversion of one country’s currency into another.
In a free economy, a country’s currency is valued according to the laws of supply and demand.
In other words, a currency’s value can be pegged to another country’s currency, such as the U.S. dollar, or even to a basket of currencies.
A country’s currency value may also be set by the country’s government.
However, most countries float their currencies freely against those of other countries, which keeps them in constant fluctuation.
The Fourth Edition of Statistics for the Life Sciences presents the fundamental ideas of statistics as they relate to the life sciences while embracing the methods and ideas of contemporary data analysis. To allow readers to concentrate on the statistical ideas and challenges rather than the mathematics, this work makes extensive use of real data in the exercises and examples while minimizing computation. The requirement is presumed to be elementary algebra.
Who the Author Is
Professor at Oberlin College and statistician with a PhD, Jeff Witmer. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, a former Chair of the ASA’s Section on Statistical Education, a former Editor-in-Chief of STATS, and a member of the Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education’s editorial board. Grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health have helped to fund his research.
Professor and statistician with a PhD at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo is Andrew Schaffner. He also works as the staff research statistician for the Morro Bay National Estuary Program and the Cal Poly Environmental Biotechnology Institute. The National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture, and the US Environmental Protection Agency all finance his study.
